The get the data coming from the barcode reader on a TC55 you've three ways:
- Do nothing, by default, when you're on a edittext, the DataWedge barcode scanner send the data as keyboard entry
- Integrate the DataWedge Intent in your application so that you've a finer control on how you manage the barcode data (as an example there's an open source phonegap plugin doing this)
- Fully integrate our Android EMDK for native Java in a PhoneGap plugin. In this way you can create new DataWedge profiles or use the native Barcode API to interface directly with the HW Barcode scanner.
Thanks a lot Pietro Maggi, although I am a Novice in the area of mobile
application, but still your comments making some sense to me.
I will have a look into terms like DataWedge, EMDK & I hope this time I
will get something concrete.
Thanks for the help.

I have another question about EMDK.
Is EMDK for Android is paid, I mean do we need to purchase a licensed version for EMDK?
You don't require a license for our EMDK we provide this to developers for free with our devices.
Thanks a lot Derek for replying to my query.
Somehow, we decided to use the second approach mentioned above by Pietro by using existing phonegap plugin.
But, I did not find anything related to controlling the beep sound of the TC55 scanner. If I want to switch off the volume of beep sound then what is the way.
As a guess, I think i need to access some EMDK API using phonegap plugin, but I am not sure which API is this.
Can you please help me in this?
Take a look in whichever Datawedge profile you are using. Within that profile, look under "Barcode Input" for "Scan Params". This is where you can set the feedback options. If you want no beep, you can select "None" under "Decode Audio Feedback"
Thats cool Dan,
Its working, Thanks a lot.
I do not know if this is the right forum to ask my another query as it is related to the device screen(WIFI option specifically) & not about any kind of coding question but let me still ask & try my luck.
In my Motorola TC55 device screen, the WiFi option is grey & i can not turn it ON. By default it is OFF & when I try to turn it ON then it just do nothing & the option still stays on OFF.
Is it a bug in device or do I need to install some external software to get control of WIFI option in device screen.
Any help is really appreciated.
