The 282P indicates that it's a TLP 2824 printer. The two digits following 282P indicate the thermal printing type (in your case, thermal transfer) and the country the unit is to be sold in (US). The 5 indicates connectivity (USB and Ethernet 10/100). The last 0 in the middle set of digits indicates that your printer does not come equipped with a dispenser or cutter. And the last 000 indicates that the printer does not have extended flash or real time clock.
Is there any document that lists all of these options? I'm interested because as we shop for printers I want to know exactly what they are.
