Positioning Smart Sense for Retail- from Chris Schaefer

Team,

In our discussion this morning somebody asked about how we are positioning Smart Sense for Retail to ensure that messaging does not conflict with our go-to-market messaging on handhelds.

I am attaching a white paper that I worked on with Chainlink Research to specifically address that challenge.

This white paper positions all of our UHF passive RFID products/solutions in the context of the retail vertical and the lifecycle of product/solution adoption - revisiting the past, present, and looking out into the future.  Goal of the paper is to describe the evolution of an RFID deployment in the context of the technologies that have been available to date (handheld RFID readers, fixed readers in portals), as well as expressing the promise of overhead solutions like Smart Sense for Retail.

As a company that offers a variety of options to drive inventory visibility, we were very careful with the tone – so as not to promote one solution at the expense of the other options we offer.  To that end, it does a good job showcasing the value of RFID while setting the stage for broader, automated solutions like Smart Sense.

Feel free to use and distribute as appropriate with customers/partners, and let me know if you have any questions.

Best,

Chris
