We are using MC3090G to compete with HHP in a noisy manufacturing environment. The partner is using datawedge and the problem is that the beep sound during scanning is not loud enough compared with the HHP device. Is there a way to increase the volume of the beep to make it louder? Or just change it to a higher frequency to have a high pitch sound?

By increasing the GoodDecode beep frequency user should be able to hear the beep Lauder. If user needs a clear beep heard he/she set a sufficient time for the beep time as well. Default values for Beep time and Beep frequency are 100ms and 3000 respectively. By set these value to 1000ms and 5000 may hear a beep laud and clear.
I believe DataWedge 3.x allows you to customize feedback, including sound type and volume. If not - the Control Panel app, available from support.symbol.com will help definitely.
In Datawedge 3.X Menu, Go to Basic Configuration-> Barcode input -> (Select Scanner/Imaging Device eg. Pico Imaging Driver) ->Feedback-> Good/Bad Decode -> Beeper. Select Beep frequncy Option to edit the frequency as required.
You can use the utilities like ctlpanel or SCM. If its CE, this sets the beeper to max [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Symbol\Audio] "BeeperVolume"=dword:00000003
