Just noticed that master-resetting the ES400 (System-Master Reset)) does not "clean" the application partition. As a result, one sees traces of installed files or shortcuts there even though the unit is supposed to be in a factory default state after the reset. Is this expected behaviour and if yes what is the best way for complete cleaning up the ES400? Thanks in advance

In the mean time you can use the MC65 clean boot files on the ES400. (See attached)
Yes it is the correct behavior for the master reset. You can use the application wipe procedure from MPA.
- How to cleanboot ES405B ?
training material is mentioning 1+9 power and C key to initiate a cleanboot.
That is however removed from later OS images and not working in OEM 19.1
The master reset in GUI is doing just a cleanboot.
cleanboot and cleanbootblank packages seems to be in process of posting on support so a user can initiate this with OSupdate key sequence or with startupldr.exe.
