I am looking for a piece of OCR software that can be used on our MC55/65 to take images of serial numbers and covert to characters. The partner has an asset tracking application for use with our scanner/imager but looking to add functionality for assets that are not barcoded and in hard to reach areas etc. Anyone aware of a utility or other software that can do this? Feedback greatly appreciated.

In addition to Chris´s request and knowing that OCR functionality is integrated in some ADC products like the DS9808, is there a mobile computer that wears the same scan engine and can do OCR as well? Thanks in advance.
We have a partner in the UK, Imense that we have used for couple of similar projects 1) Meter reading - use imager to capture a picture and they extract the meter reading and serial number of the meter from the image 2) Automatic Number Plate Recognition - reading car license plates. Its a bit more than OCR as you have to ignore any other text in the image. But they do have working solutions for the above. For more details please contact me. Paul Hurford.
