All,
Yesterday Cisco announced the End-of-Sale and End-of-Life on 2 major wireless lan products. These are Standalone 4400 Wireless LAN Controller (WLC) and the Integrated 3750 Integrated WLC. These products are widely deployed in the industry and it should open up some opportunities for us. The Cisco 5500 series WLC is the replacement product. See Cisco website for more details

Cisco 5500 with version 7.x has several features missing such as:
No Spanning Tree Protocol (STP)
Maximum AP adoption limit of 500 compared to 1024 on RFS7000
No Port mirroring
No Layer 2 access control list (ACL) support
No VPN termination (such as IPsec and L2TP)
No VPN passthrough option
No Layer 2 or Layer 3 Firewall
Combine with advantages we have with WiNG 5
Cisco provides Hub-and-spoke architecture vs. MOT WiNG5 distributed architecture
HREAP APs cannot provide services under WAN down or controller down conditions
RRM, WIPS/WIDS , CleanAir
L3 Mobility
VLAN load balancing
Stateful SIP ALG
Fast roaming with WPA2/802.1X (And the list goes on…)
Motorola WiNG 5 provides all these and many more features without the need of a controller..
Motorola WLAN solution becomes hard to beat (at least on the technical front :).
