Customer setup UCA / CA50 on the Cisco network included Cisco AP's and backbone. CA50 device battery will not last longer that 2 hour with the very light usage. We was able to determine that some event on the network periodically wake up device from suspend (every 60 seconds or so). All devices is set up in a Power save mode We believe that the periodic wake up lead to the battery depletion but can not determine wich event on the network does it.  Is any one experienced the similar issue and know the resolution?

Does your Customer have a lot of broadcast/multicast traffic on the network not related to the CA50s? All devices must wake up and process BC/MC traffic. Z

Please make sure you check the DTIM value on that AP at the store for the WLAN our device CA50 connects too.  It really should be set to 10.  What other devices are running on that WLAN at the store? Also if there are lots of broadcast on the network this will also affect the device.  Are there other devices on the same WLAN that is not seeing this behavior? Mark

Just to clarify this situation. Our customer (Scantrak) build UCA network in their lab. Then they build the same exact network on their customers site. They use the same deployment files configuring devices. They even bring their own devices into the customers site. The devices in the lab last 4-4.5 hours while on the customers site on 2 hours. Something on the network wake up the devices and they can not figure out what.

Hi Alex, the CA50 is an ADC product, so we don't have insight into specifics in MCD.  When you say that it wakes up from suspend, you mean the device, not something WLAN specific, right?  On MCD products with Jedi, we don't have any way for WLAN to wake up the device, as WLAN is actually off during suspend.  I would assume the same is true on the CA50.

Alex, We did a trail at Crate & Barrel and were able to get 6-7 hours of operation there. I would check to see if the Cisco AP settings have been set per the installation requirements DTIM long preamble and the like need to be adjusted from the typical settings in many cases. Bill
