Both the DS4208 and DS9208 will use the new SE3300 engine. Excellent 2D barcode scanning and scaning from mobile phone screens / laptop screen for e-ticket / e-coupon applications, without the high end features such as image capture, OCR and document capture that are not always needed and add cost.
While Malcolm is right that both the DS9208 and DS4208 use the same base engine module there are a couple of differences. For one thing, they have different lenses. The DS9208 has a wider field of view better suited for presentation scanners, while the DS4208 lens is similar to the SE4500. There are a number of other differences (some very significant) between the way the products work due to the hands-free vs. hand-held nature of the two, but they share a common core architecture.
