We have 250 DS6878s located in individual patient rooms and we've been able to suppress the beeping during scanning however, when the workstation reboots or the scanner is placed back into the cradle it beeps from 1 to 6 times. Is there anyway to suppress this beeping also?

Have you tried scanning the barcode " Write to Custom Defaults" after setting the custom settings that you desire? Just a guess, have not tried this for setting beeper controls, but it does work for other settings.
Hi, I couldn't find a way to do that either. I resolved it by instead of using RS-232 I went to USB and used the virtual COM port driver. That worked just fine. Greg
Section 5-6 of the DS6878 User Manual (PRG) has barcode for disabling beep on power up. Section 5-9 has barcode for disabling beep on insertion into cradle. Link:

I have a customer with the same question, we've disabled the power up beeps, beep on insertion and beep on reconnect but when the workstation reboots the scanner still beeps once when it loses radio communications and once when it re-establishes communication with the cradle. Can those beeps be disabled?
