I am trying to get an RFD8500 to work with a TC55 and have the Android Keyboard available for data entry.
I can attach the RFD8500 and scan tags in but the Android Screen  keyboard is not available
Under settings the RFD8500 shows up as Physical Keyboard. THe only way to get the popup keyboard to display is to end the BT session to the RFD8500

Thanks.

Hi Brian,

You can try Hacker's Keyboard – Applications Android sur Google Play

Have a look at this video TC55 & CS4070 & Hacker's Keyboard - YouTube

Brian, I assume the RFD8500, is connecting as a HID device. When an external HID device is connected, Android will default to that device for Input.

To change that behaviour:
1. Attach the HID device
2. Go to Settings > Language & Input
3. Tap Default
4. Change Hardware Physical Keyboard from On to Off

Now the soft keyboard should popup when an entry field is selected. The Android device should now accept input from the soft keyboard or the external HID device.
