WT6000 not recognized by computer

Hi,

I have just received a WT6000 and it is not recognized by my computer. I have installed the Zebra USB driver V2.1. It will not show up in device manager. I turned on developer mode, and enabled USB debugging, but still nothing. I have a Samsung S4 attached, and it is recognized by computer and I can debug apps on it using VS2015.

Don't know what to do. Anyone have any ideas?

There should be a sticker on

There should be a sticker on the cable that has a part number on it. Is it CBL-NGWT-USBCHG-01

No, nothing like that. This

No, nothing like that. This is an evaluation unit I received from our vendor to test out as a replacement for some WT4000’s. The bag that the cable came in looks fairly generic. It has a part # of 25-124330-01R with no name on it.

Does this mean that I can’t use any USB cable?

Thanks

The cables that can be used

The cables that can be used with that device are listed in this guide, search for Table 6-1.  I'm not familiar with that cable part number, you may need to reach out to your vendor to ensure that is not a charge only cable.

So, you are using a WT6000

So, you are using a WT6000 cradle, and not plugging directly into the device? The WT6000 does not have a standard usb-micro female connector.

I just took a look, and the only thing I saw is for a split cable to plug into the unit directly. I don’t have that. I am just trying to connect to the device while it’s plugged into the cradle. The USB cable is plugged into the cradle. Shouldn’t it work this way as well?

Thanks

Yes, it should. what is the

Yes, it should. what is the part number on the cradle.  The guide below lists all the cradle options, but all seem to allow usb communication.  I assume you have turned on usb debugging under developer options in Settings?

Ken,That cradle has two micro

Ken,

That cradle has two micro USB ports, one for the RS6000 scanner (labelled port 2) and one for the WT6000 (labelled port 1) . If you connect your USB cable to port 1 then it should work .

Hi Ian,I had tried both

Hi Ian,

I had tried both yesterday and didn’t have any luck on either one. Today I must have pushed the cable a little harder and it worked. I removed the cable and tried again, but it didn’t work until I pressed pretty hard. I didn’t feel any movement, but it did work. I will look for a cable with less plastic around the connector so it makes a more reliable connection.

As a suggestion, relabeling the ports would be helpful. I looked through the user guide and couldn’t find anything talking about any difference in them. The integrators guide has a single line that says it’s used for daisy chaining multiple cradles. Most users wouldn’t even look at that manual.

Thanks for your help, and also Eric last night. The timeliness of the response from Zebra was quite good!!

Thanks
