What you are experiencing is most likely a bug we call "Morse code". I would recommend that you update to OS28, please use the following link to request the download.
See the release notes for all improvements and fixes.
Thanks for the tip. I already downloaded it and was going to try this. But I'm in a bit of a dilemma now.
I don't know how to connect to the Badge via Windows Mobile Device Center (I'm using Windows 7 x64), to get access to the System partition. Whenever I connect it via USB, it shows up as a simple USB Storage Device. Do I need some drivers to get access to the System partition (in order to update it, like in the procedure Motorola recommends)?
I have attached a barcode for you to use.
Use the rapid deployment utility on the SB1 to scan this and make sure the device is connected to the public internet.

Hey there Mark!
Anything else I should know, before venturing into scanning those codes?
(Like having copied the .28 update files on the device beforehand, etc.)
It seems I may have bricked the device. I scanned the linear barcodes with the RDC app. The update was applied. The device booted up and I calibrated it with no issue. Then I scanned the Datamatrix code and after seeing that the device would try to reapply the same update, I canceled the operation (by pressing the Cancel button in the RDC, after the first reboot). I received an -811 error. Went ahead and pressed okay. The device rebooted then (I could tell from the single buzzer sound) and then the screen went blank. I cannot seem to operate it at all now, since the screen doesn't paint anything.
Any suggestions on what to do next? Is a hard reset possible?
Looks like the device booted into the Windows CE desktop after all. Had a really good scare there for a while.
I only have one last question. After I'm done meddling around with it into Desktop mode, how do I get it to boot-up into the RhoElements interface?
Thanks for your input Mark. Really appreciating your help.
I have started the Rapid Deployment Client app, however the scanner button doesn't fire up the scanner engine. The usual scanner button doesn't seem to work, after pressing it. Any suggestions?
Apparently it doesn't work to either connect it to the PC (as a Storage device) anymore. I'd try reapply the update using the classic /Temp folder method.
I'm gonna try and see if I can make it show up.
Quite an adventure, indeed! Could a moderator maybe clean up this post, to retain just the Helpful and Correct Answers? I feel like we've diverged a lot from the main issue here.
